The Parade will assemble at the Mercat Cross (13:00) and proceed to St Michael's Kirk at Inveresk for an Ecumenical Service (14:00-15:00) which will mark the official start of the Riding of the Marches week. the Parade will return into the centre of Musselburgh where the Lord Lieutenant will take the salute at the Police Station in the High Street. The Parade finishes on Mall Avenue

Members of the Royal Company of Archers (Queen's Bodyguard in Scotland) compete for the world's oldest sporting trophy. They will parade to the Brunton Hall following the event.

A feast of five choirs come together - along with a young local soprano Rebecca Traynor, "Scotland's Tenor" Jamie McBride, and members of the BB Pipe Band. They promise an evening of fun with contemporary and traditional songs. The choirs are: the Clark Community Choir, Penicuik Community Choir, Sing in the City, The Edinburgh Gay Men's Chorus, and very special guests, the Maesteg Gleemen male voice choir from the Ronda Valley, South Wales.

The Ceremonial Spade will be presented at the Mercat Cross by the Provost to the Turf Cutter, assisted by his Assistant and protected by the Town Champion. Together with his Squires and the Town's Halberdiers, the procession will make its way to Ravensheugh Bridge to cut the turf. The symbolic event will then be repeated at 11 further turf cutting stations before the spade is returned to the Provost at the Mercat Cross
